The UAE topped the region in attracting foreign direct investment in the tourism sector during 2018 -2022.
Also, the UAE ranked fifth globally by attracting the largest number of new foreign tourism investments.
The UAE surpassed countries such as: France, Portugal, and Japan, according to the FDI Markets index of the Financial Times.
The UAE took the fifth position in new tourism investment projects globally, by taking 4.7 % from market share.
In fact, the UAE took 4.7% of the new investment projects in the tourism sector globally during 2018-2022 which gave it the fifth position.
Moreover, the United States ranked first by taking 8.2% of the total number of projects globally.
Followed by the United Kingdom with 6.6%, Spain with 5.5%, and Germany with 5.5% globally.
Mexico came in the sixth position after the UAE with 4.3%.
Followed by France with 4%, China with 3.3%, Portugal with 2.4%, and Japan with 2.4%.
The UAE took the First position in tourism investment projects regionally, by taking 35% from Market Share.
The UAE also topped the region in attracting foreign direct investment in the tourism sector during 2018-2022.
By taking more than a third (35%) of the total market share in the Middle East and Africa region.
After increasing by 65% from 2021, it attracted the largest number of tourism-related investments in 2022.
The total announced tourism projects number is 33 and they are worth a total of over $752 million.
In fact, th foreign investors prefer countries that have recovered quickly from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Such as the United Arab Emirates and the Dominican Republic.
More than $3.6 billion invested in the field of tourism exported from the UAE.
Between 2018 and 2022, the Middle East and Africa region was the source of 131 investments related to tourism.
Also, 72 projects of these investments came from companies headquartered in the United Arab Emirates.
While the value of foreign direct investment in the field of tourism exported from the UAE was estimated at more than $3.6 billion.
The value of foreign direct investment in the field of tourism worldwide in 2018 was about $74.5 billion.
In addition, it was about $60.9 billion in 2019, $18.2 billion in 2020, $11.6 billion in 2021.
While in 2022 it was about $10.2 billion.
