The UAE Enters Guinness World Records for Climate Awareness.
The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment (MOCCAE) in the UAE has recorded two Guinness World Records for climate awareness.
In cooperation with Ernst & Young, Climate Fresk, and Dar Al-Eman.
The first record is for the largest climate awareness class, with 1,100 students from Dar Al-Eman, representing 57 nationalities, attending.
The second record is for the largest number of nationalities attending a climate awareness class.
Moreover, the class was at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on November 8, 2023,
and it was led by Climate Fresk, a non-governmental organization that provides climate awareness education to young people around the world.
The class covered topics such as the causes and effects of climate change, and what individuals and governments can do to address it.
Significance of the achievement
The success of the attempt is a significant achievement for the MOCCAE, Dar Al-Eman, Ernst & Young, and Climate Fresk.
Because it demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to climate awareness and education.
As well as its leadership in empowering youth to take action on climate change.
The achievement is also timely, coming ahead of the COP28 climate conference.
Which the UAE will host this November.
Mentioning that COP28 is a critical meeting of world leaders to discuss and negotiate climate action.
Role of youth in climate change
Role of youth in climate change
Youth are disproportionately affected by climate change.
But they are also uniquely positioned to lead the fight against it.
As they have the energy, creativity, and passion to drive change, and they are the future leaders who will inherit the planet.
The MOCCAE’s achievement in setting two Guinness World Records for climate awareness is a powerful way.
Because it engaged youth and inspired them to take action on climate change.
It is also a message to world leaders, confirming youth commitment to climate action.
And that they expect their leaders to take bold steps at COP28.
It is not the first time that the UAE enters Guinness, but this achievement adds to the UAE’s active actions towards sustainability.
