The airports registered a remarkable 14.7% increase in UAE passenger traffic compared to the same period in 2023.
This upsurge was fueled by a resurgence in trade, tourism, and travel activities, coupled with a global rise in demand for air travel.
Passenger Traffic Highlights:
- Total Passengers: 36.5 million passengers traveled through UAE airports during Q1 2024.
- Arrivals: 10.72 million passengers arrived in the UAE.
- Departures: 10.87 million passengers departed from the UAE.
- Transit Passengers: 14.94 million transit passengers utilized UAE airports.
Air Cargo Surge:
Air cargo volume mirrored passenger traffic growth, witnessing a substantial 32% increase to reach 1.1 million metric tons in Q1 2024.
- Imports: The UAE imported 269,000 tons of goods.
- Exports: The UAE exported 119,000 tons of goods.
- Transit Cargo: The transit of 714,000 tons of goods was through UAE airports.
- National Carrier Contribution: National carriers handled 68% of the total air cargo volume.
