Azerbaijan President “Ilham Aliyev” Welcomes the President of UAE
The President of UAE “Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan” attended the opening session of the World Leaders Climate Summit.
The summit is inaugurated by Azerbaijan President “Ilham Aliyev”, as part of the COP29 UN Climate Change Conference in Azerbaijan.
The event, held from November 11-22 under the theme “Solidarity for a Green World,” focuses on accelerating global climate efforts.
In his remarks, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed highlighted the UAE’s commitment to climate action and building a resilient economy for the future.
He referenced the UAE’s rich legacy of environmental protection and sustainable development values, which inspired hosting COP28 the previous year.
Climate Action is an Opportunity Rather than a Burden
At COP28, the UAE had promoted international cooperation to deliver an effective response to the first global stocktake of Paris Agreement’s progress.
His Highness emphasized that continued constructive international cooperation in climate action could drive global sustainable economic and social growth.
The President of UAE added that climate action is an opportunity rather than a burden.
He mentioned “the UAE Agreement,” the historic outcome of COP28.
As it is a testament of the collective global resolve for an organized, responsible, and balanced energy transition.
UAE Agreement Restored Confidence in Multilateral Climate Efforts
This agreement, he noted, provides a roadmap to achieve the ambitions of Paris Agreement.
It also has successfully restored confidence in multilateral climate efforts.
By ensuring global financial commitments and securing climate financing for the most vulnerable communities.
The President of UAE also urged leaders to focus on overcoming differences and finding common ground for the benefit of humanity.

The President of UAE Exchanged Warm Discussions with World Leaders
Upon his arrival at the conference, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed was greeted by President Aliyev and UN Secretary-General António Guterres, with official photographs taken.
Later, he joined a group photo with other heads of delegations.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed and global leaders exchanged warm discussions on bilateral relations and the significance of COP29 in fostering international cooperation on climate action.
The official Emirati delegation accompanied Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed to the summit’s opening session.
