67% of the Votes Went to the UAE
Lieutenant Colonel Dana Humaid Al Marzouqi, Director General of the International Affairs Office at the Ministry of Interior, received 67% of the votes from member states participating in the committee’s meetings held at INTERPOL’s headquarters in Lyon, France.
This committee is considered one of the core technical bodies within INTERPOL organizational structure.
It plays a vital role in supporting the effective operation of the world’s largest police organization.

As the principal authority on governance within INTERPOL, the committee promotes good governance.
It also supports the organization’s sustainable development and performance and ensures that strategic objectives are met.
Moreover, it establishes the legal and constitutional frameworks that guide INTERPOL’s work.
The 92nd General Assembly of INTERPOL, held in Glasgow, 2024, decided to establish the Committee on Governance.
It is a permanent body evolving from what was previously a technical working group on governance.
INTERPOL Committee on Governance Tasks:
The UAE became the first country to assume the presidency of this newly formalized committee.
That task is to enhance the organization’s governance.
Within its mandate, the committee reviews INTERPOL’s constitution, general regulations, and annexes.
It advises the General Assembly on proposed amendments to the constitution and regulations, or any matters related to their interpretation.
It also undertakes other key responsibilities and includes high-level experts in governance and international public law, representing member states, ensuring broad and inclusive participation.
