Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal announced yesterday his retirement from tennis after the Davis Cup Finals in November, at the age of 38.
This marks the end of a career filled with 22 major titles.
Tennis player Rafael Nadal earned worldwide respect for his talent.
He also created legendary rivalries with tennis icons Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
“Everything has a beginning and an end”.
In a video posted on his social media accounts, Nadal said:
“I will retire from professional tennis.
Honestly, I’ve had tough years, especially the last two.
I wasn’t able to play without limitations.
Of course, it’s a difficult decision, but in life, everything has a beginning and an end.”
Nadal, who has been plagued by numerous injuries in recent years, added:
“It’s time to put an end to a long and highly successful career, one that I never expected to reach.
I’m very excited that my final tournament will be the Davis Cup Finals, where I will represent my country.”

Swiss player Roger Federer, one of his fiercest competitors, praised him, saying: “What a career, Rafa! I hoped this day would never come.”
He continued, “Thank you for the unforgettable memories and all the incredible achievements you’ve made in the sport we love. It’s a great honor.”
World number one, Italian Jannik Sinner, commented: “It’s tough news for the tennis world. He’s an amazing person.
He showed us how to behave on the court, how to approach difficult situations, and taught us to remain humble and not change when achieving success.”

The tennis player Rafael Nadal was born in Mallorca.
He concluded two decades of in tennis, winning 92 singles titles and accumulating $135 million in prize money.
He dominated the French Open at Roland Garros, winning a record 14 times.
With his first title coming just days after his 19th birthday in 2005 and his last in 2022, making him the oldest champion.
On the red clay courts of Paris, he lost only four times in 116 matches.

In his long-standing rivalry with close friend Federer, who retired in 2022, Nadal leads their head-to-head 24-16.
He surpassed Federer at the 2022 Australian Open when he claimed his 20th Grand Slam title.
He met Djokovic (37 years old), who holds 24 major titles, 60 times, with the Serbian leading their head-to-head by two victories.
During his record-breaking career, Nadal suffered from a series of injuries, the most significant being to his left foot, where he dealt with Müller-Weiss syndrome.
