Today, the Transitional Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa has ratified the draft of Syria constitutional declaration.
This draft was prepared by the committee tasked with its formulation.
The committee of experts responsible for drafting the declaration affirmed that:
“Since its formation, it has been dedicated to fulfilling its mandate.
Basing its work on the outcomes of the National Dialogue Conference in preparing the constitutional declaration.”
The committee added:
“The constitutional declaration affirms freedom of opinion, expression, media, publishing, and journalism.
While emphasizing the state’s commitment to national unity and respect for cultural diversity.”
Ahmad Al-Sharaa: “May this be a historic turning point.”
After receiving the draft declaration, Al-Sharaa stated:
“We hope this marks a new beginning for the Syrian people on the path of reconstruction and progress.
May this be a historic turning point where we replace ignorance with knowledge and suffering with mercy.”

Important Details From Syria Constitutional Declaration:
The committee also highlighted that it included a special section on rights and freedoms to balance societal security with individual liberty.
The following key points outlined according to the draft constitution:
- Guaranteeing property rights and women’s right to education, employment, and political participation.
- Ensuring judicial independence and the significance of court rulings.
- Defining the transitional period as five years.
- Giving the President the authority to declare a state of emergency.
- Islamic jurisprudence will be the primary source of legislation.
- Syrian president’s religion will remain Islam.
- Affirming Syria’s commitment to the human rights agreements it has signed.
- Confirming Syria adherence to the complete separation of powers.
