Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Chairs the Supreme Space Council
The Cabinet of the UAE, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved a decision to establish a permanent body named the “Supreme Space Council” under the Cabinet’s authority.
The new council will be chaired by HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and its members include:
- Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology
- Minister of Economy
- Chairman of the UAE Space Agency (who will also serve as a member and secretary-general of the council)
- Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications
- Deputy Chairman of Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre
- The President Advisor for Strategic Research and Advanced Technology
- Assistant Undersecretary at the Ministry of Defense for Support and Defense Industries
Roles and Responsibilities:
The decision outlines the primary roles and responsibilities of the Supreme Space Council, including:
- Approving the general policy for the regulations of space sector and related activities.
- Setting the national priorities for the space sector.
- Identifying target technologies to ensure the UAE’s technological sovereignty in this field.
- Establishing priorities for public and private sector investment and acquisition in space-related activities.
- Approving plans and strategies to achieve space security in cooperation with international partners.
- Developing a comprehensive plan for the management of infrastructure, facilities, and assets in the space sector to ensure integration.
- Creating a general plan for capacity building in the space sector.
- Organizing partnerships at the local, regional, and global levels.

The Supreme Space Council will also endorse legislation, policies, strategies, and national programs concerning the space sector.
This is in coordination with relevant authorities.
The decision also assigns the UAE Space Agency the role of providing secretarial, technical, and administrative support to the council.
