The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to humanitarian support, playing a leading role in addressing the ongoing crisis in Sudan.
From 2014 to 2024, the UAE has provided over $3.5 billion in humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people.
This reflects its consistent dedication to alleviating suffering and supporting stability in the region.
Rapid Response to Sudan Humanitarian Crisis
The UAE was among the first nations to respond to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Sudan.
Under the direction of its wise leadership, the UAE delivered massive humanitarian assistance.
Including food aid, medical supplies, and emergency relief—to both displaced populations and vulnerable communities across Sudan.

Focused Support for Women, Children, and Healthcare
The UAE has prioritized healthcare services, food security, and protection for women and children.
Ensuring access to emergency shelters and livelihood opportunities.
These efforts highlight the UAE’s strategic and holistic approach to humanitarian relief in Sudan.
Regional and International Humanitarian Leadership
On Zayed Humanitarian Day, the UAE launched a major regional initiative supporting Sudanese refugees and displaced persons.
Moreover, the UAE participated in a high-level humanitarian visit to the Gorom refugee camp in Juba, South Sudan.
This was in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and UN agencies, mobilizing global humanitarian support for Sudan.
In February 2024, the UAE co-hosted a high-level humanitarian conference in Addis Ababa.
Alongside Ethiopia, the African Union, IGAD, and the UN.
During this event, the UAE announced $200 million in additional aid, further strengthening its position as a key humanitarian donor to Sudan and Africa.

Total Emirati Aid to Sudan Exceeds $600 Million Since the Conflict Began
Since the outbreak of conflict, the UAE has contributed $600.4 million in aid:
- $200 million pledged during the Addis Ababa conference
- $400 million in support during the 22-month conflict
This substantial financial commitment demonstrates the UAE’s firm resolve to alleviate the Sudanese humanitarian crisis and support long-term recovery.
UAE’s Partnership with UN Agencies and Relief Organizations
The UAE has dedicated 70% of its $100 million pledge (announced during the International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan) to key UN organizations, including:
- OCHA (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs)
- WFP (World Food Programme)
- UNHCR (UN Refugee Agency)
- FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization)
- WHO (World Health Organization)
This ensures a coordinated, efficient, and impactful response to the escalating crisis in Sudan.
In addition to a special focus on famine prevention, emergency healthcare, and shelter.

Air Bridge, Field Hospitals, and Refugee Support
To ensure timely delivery of aid, the UAE established a humanitarian air bridge with Sudan and neighboring Chad.
It has shipped thousands of tons of food, medical, and emergency supplies via dozens of flights.
Additionally, the UAE:
- Supported Sudanese refugee camps in Chad (including in Abéché)
- Delivered food aid to refugees in South Sudan
- Built two field hospitals in Chad (Am-Djarass and Abéché) to serve civilians regardless of nationality, age, or political affiliation
International relief organizations have praised the UAE’s efforts.
The acknowledged its critical role in saving lives and easing the suffering of those affected by the Sudanese conflict.
UAE Responds to Accusations Amid Sudan Conflict
Amid recent tensions, Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Advisor to the UAE President, addressed false claims made by the Sudanese military.
He described them as attempts to deflect attention from internal failures and the army’s role in initiating the war.
Gargash reaffirmed that the UAE has consistently sought a political solution to the crisis.
Adding that Sudan’s complaint to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is baseless and politically motivated.
Mentioning that the UAE respects the ICJ but views the complaint as part of a broader misinformation campaign.

Sudan Military’s Role in the Crisis
According to international reports, including those from UN agencies, human rights organizations, and the U.S. government, the Sudanese Armed Forces have been responsible for:
- War crimes
- Indiscriminate attacks on civilians
- Use of chemical weapons
- Sexual violence
Gargash emphasized the UAE’s belief in accountability for atrocities committed by all parties.
While continuing to focus on humanitarian assistance and peacebuilding.

Advocating for an immediate ceasefire and a return to a political transition toward civilian governance.
UAE Believes in Peaceful Future for Sudan that Ends the Crisis
Despite political attacks, the UAE remains committed to its humanitarian mission in Sudan.
Gargash emphasized that deep-rooted ties between the UAE and Sudanese people will not be shaken by false allegations.
The UAE continues to believe in a peaceful future for Sudan, driven by diplomatic efforts and development partnerships.
