Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Takes Oath as Emir of Kuwait
Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah has been sworn in as the Emir of Kuwait.
This was during a special session of the National Assembly held on Wednesday.
The swearing-in ceremony follows his nomination as the country’s ruler by the Cabinet in an extraordinary meeting last Saturday.
In accordance with the Constitution and Article 4 of the Succession to the Throne Law of 1964.
His Highness Sheikh Meshal Al-Sabah becomes the 17th ruler of Kuwait according to the Constitution and the Succession to the Throne Law.
Moreover, he is succeeding the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who passed away on Saturday.

The Amiri Court declared official mourning on Saturday.
Expressing its profound sadness to the Kuwaiti people, the Arab and Islamic nations, and the world, for the loss of the late Emir.
They also prayed to God Almighty to grant him His wide mercy and eternal peace in Heaven.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has congratulated Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on his swearing-in as Emir of Kuwait.
In a tweet on his official social media account, “X”, his Highness said:
“We congratulate our brother Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on his swearing-in as Emir of Kuwait.
We pray for him for success and guidance in governing the country.
Also, we pray for Kuwait and its people for a new journey of progress and prosperity under his wise leadership.
We ask God to guide him to all good and to perpetuate love and brotherhood between the two brotherly peoples.”
In fact, the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait are strategic partners and have a long history of cooperation in a wide range of areas.
