SCCI addresses strengthening economic ties with Karnataka

The Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) of Sharjah has explored ways of strengthening fiscal, investment, and commercial ties and extending the opportunities for cooperation with the Karnataka State of India.

This came during the meeting between Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, President of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and Perikal M Sundar, President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce & Industry, recently held at the SCCI premises (FKCCI).

Karnataka towards enhancing the economy alongside UAE

Also present at the meeting were senior officials from both sides, including Mohammed Rashid Al-Dimas, SCCI Board Chairman, Mohammad Ahmed Amin Al-Awadi, SCCI Director-General, and Dr. Kiran Kumar, FKCCI Director.

The meeting discussed several issues of mutual concern, including improving the economic, investment and industrial relations between Sharjah and Karnataka and broadening the possibilities for cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sharjah and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Karnataka to help the private sector in both countries making better use of the investment opportunities available.

Al Owais stresses on the importance of such economic ties

Abdullah Sultan Al Owais said, “The bilateral relations between the UAE and India are a deeply-rooted one and are based on mutual respect and common interests in several fields, especially the economic field,”

He pointed out that the UAE is one of India’s main trading partners in the Middle East, while India is the first trading partner of the UAE, underlining the Chamber’s intention to pursue investment opportunities in the developing export sectors of Karnataka.

In exchange, Perikal M Sundar praised the close and long-standing links between India and the UAE and, in particular, Sharjah and Karnataka, explaining that the meeting aims to improve bilateral cooperation and, through investment inflows and collaborations between both sides, to take commercial and business ties to new heights.
