Reem Al Hashimy Discusses Gaza Humanitarian Response with Cypriot Officials
Reem Al Hashimy, the UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, held talks with Cypriot officials regarding the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Moreover, both sides emphasized the importance of a continued, international, multi-pronged approach to address Gaza’s worsening humanitarian situation.
The UAE and Cyprus condemned the violence against humanitarian aid workers.
Mentioning that the discussions stressed Israel’s responsibility under international humanitarian law to ensure the safety and security of aid efforts and personnel.

Reem Al Hashimy reviewed methods to strengthen channels for humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
Considering the suspension of the Cyprus-Gaza maritime corridor due to Israeli actions.
The urgency of ensuring a swift, large-scale, unimpeded, and sustainable flow of aid through all available channels (land, air, and sea) was emphasized.
Both parties stressed the need to open additional routes and crossings for aid delivery.
And also to increase efforts to alleviate Gaza’s suffering and prevent famine.
The UAE and Cyprus condemned the attacks on humanitarian workers.
In addition, they demanded a thorough investigation by Israel with assurances to prevent future occurrences if the maritime corridor initiative resumes.
The discussions also highlighted Israel’s obligation under international humanitarian law to safeguard humanitarian efforts and protect aid workers.
