President of COP28 Calls on all countries to address the impacts of climate change.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and President of COP28, has called on all countries.
In order to unite their efforts to address the impacts of climate change.
And also to achieve the desired achievements during COP28 conference in Dubai.
This was during his speech on the 1st day of the preparatory ministerial meetings for COP28.
Which are taking place in Abu Dhabi, between 30 & 31 – Oct.
Al Jaber, President of COP28 stressed the importance of finding leading solutions to face climate change.
Moreover, Al Jaber stressed the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve strong results in the field of mitigation.
In order to reach a comprehensive agreement on adaptation.
In addition to finding leading solutions in the field of financing.
He also called for doubling the financing of adaptation.
As well as reducing emissions from the current energy system.
Which should start by tripling global renewable energy production capacity, and doubling energy efficiency.
Financing Flow to the developing countries.
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber highlighted the need for the flow of financing to the most needy countries.
Which are in the global South.
He also highlighted the need to restore the confidence of developing countries in the promises of developed countries.
He urged all parties to work together to achieve the following global goals:
-Adaptation.
-Reducing deforestation.
-Preserving natural carbon sinks.
Dr. Al Jaber, President of COP28, concluded by calling on all participants to enhance their efforts.
