The spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has thrown the world into turbulent times. With travel restrictions in place and flights grounded, mobility is not what it once was. The UAE has announced that for the next three months there will be no fines expired for visas.
No penalties for expired UAE visas
The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) has issued a statement regarding residency visas. For a three month period, all expired visas will be exempted from fines. There will be no additional fees upon renewal in the future.
All people holding residency visas can enjoy the generosity of this fine waiver. Anyone holding a residency visa who doesn’t manage to make it back into the UAE before the grace period ends will have their visa renewed without penalty too.
If you’re a holder of a tourist or visit visa you’re also in luck, there are no fines for them either.
Visa holders can call the Amer call center with any questions they have regarding their visa. Call centers have had their resources increased in order to respond to the increased workload during the Coronavirus outbreak.

Limited the damage caused by Coronavirus
COVID-19 has killed over 50,000 people worldwide. The virus has spread far and wide, infecting over a million people to date. Many more deaths are sure to follow in the coming weeks.
But there are other issues being caused by the Coronavirus. Global economies are collapsing under the strain of a society forced to self-isolate. People in many countries have lost their jobs and livelihoods as a result of the outbreak.
The United Arab Emirates has constantly reacted swiftly and decisively to every development during the pandemic. Ensuring that citizens and residents are safe is a top priority. Shielding people from the economic fallout is important too, and the UAE is working hard to make sure people suffer as little loss as possible.
