Unemployment Insurance System witnesses continuous increase in subscribers number
Unemployment Insurance System has exceeded 8 million since its launch at the beginning of last year until July 30.
The continuous increase in subscribers reflects the system’s success and the awareness of its importance among those covered.
The system provides a social protection umbrella that ensures a decent life for workers in the federal government and private sectors.
Both citizens and residents, during periods of unemployment.
This is by compensating the insured with a cash amount for three months until a new job opportunity is found.

Noting that failure to pay could result in a fine of AED 200 and the cancellation of the insurance policy.
Who is exempted from Unemployment Insurance System ?
Exemptions from the system include investors (owners of the establishments they work in), domestic workers and temporary contract workers.
In addition to minors under 18, and citizens who have met retirement conditions or retirees who have taken up new employment.

The insurance pool’s website (www.iloe.ae), the ILOE smart app and self-service kiosks.
As well as ATMs, business service centers, exchange centers (like Al Ansari Exchange), bank and financial institution mobile apps, SMS, telecom company bills, and the insurance pool’s call center (600599555).
The Unemployment Insurance System has two categories:
- Category 1: For those with a basic salary of AED 16,000 or less, with a monthly subscription fee of AED 5 (or AED 60 annually).
The maximum monthly compensation is AED 10,000. - Category 2: For those with a basic salary of more than AED 16,000, with a monthly subscription fee of AED 10 (or AED 120 annually).
The maximum monthly compensation is AED 20,000.
Compensation is due provided if the insured has been subscribed for at least 12 consecutive months.
The right to claim compensation is forfeited if the insured leaves the country or finds new employment.
Up to 3 Months Compensation
Compensation is paid within a maximum of two weeks from the date of the claim, provided it meets the eligibility criteria.
The insurance program compensates the insured with a cash amount for up to three months.
This is if they provided that they did not resign or were not dismissed for disciplinary reasons.
The compensation is calculated at 60% of the basic salary for the last six months before unemployment.
Non-subscribed workers can check and pay fines through the ministry’s smart app, website, or by visiting an accredited business service center.
Digital channels also offer the option to request installment payments for fines to reduce the burden on users.
The ministry accepts requests for fine waivers if supporting documents are provided, with the applicant notified of the result within 15 working days via official ministry channels.
