A delegation of ministers from the New Syrian Government is touring the Gulf region.
This delegation started the journey by visiting Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the UAE.
The Gulf countries, like Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, play a crucial role in shaping the Syrian transformation.
Qatar, for example, is pushing for economic integration.
While Saudi Arabia is showing strategic interest reflected in its support for efforts to restore regional stability.
Who are the members of the New Syrian Government delegation to the UAE ?
Today, the new Syrian Government delegation arrived at the UAE.
Marking the first official visit to discuss prospects of cooperation and coordination between the UAE and Syria.
The Syrian delegation includes:
- Foreign Minister “Asaad Al-Shibani”
- Defense Minister “Marhaf Abu Qasra”
- Head of the General Intelligence Service “Anas Khattab”
Asaad Al-Shibani, the new Syrian Foreign Minister Visits Qatar
Asaad Al-Shibani, the new Foreign Minister of Syria, started his first official visit to Qatar yesterday, Sunday, January 5, 2025.
During the visit he discussed prospects of cooperation and coordination between the two countries.
He was accompanied by Defense Minister Marhaf Abu Qasra and Head of the General Intelligence Service Anas Khattab.
After his visit to Qatar, Al-Shibani had received a phone call from the Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulaziz Al-Khulaifi.
The Mohammed bin Rashid Space Center announced that the most advanced Emirati satellite in the region, “Mohammed bin Zayed Sat,” will be launched into orbit in January, marking a new historic milestone in the journey of the Emirati space sector, according to a tweet on the “X”… pic.twitter.com/AgK77rp1hn

Syrian Foreign Ministry Statement
According to a statement from the Syrian Foreign Ministry:
“The Foreign Minister thanked the sister state of Qatar for its honorable positions towards the Syrian revolution and the Syrian people.
He affirmed the importance of cooperation and coordination between the two brotherly countries.
The Qatari Minister of State affirmed the sister state of Qatar’s support for the new administration and increased cooperation between the two countries and standing by the Syrian people in all ways to rebuild Syria, and also pointed to the continuous efforts to provide humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.”
The new Syrian Government in Damascus is trying to achieve economic integration within an Arab framework, aiming to break isolation and rebuild trust.
But the question is: Will Arab openness be sufficient to overcome the Syrian challenges ?
