Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Park to Reach 4,660 Megawatts by End of 2026
Mohamed Al Jumairi, Deputy Director of Clean Energy and Diversification at DEWA, revealed that the capacity of Mohammed Bin Rashid Solar Park (MBRS) will reach 4,660 megawatts by the end of the sixth phase in 2026.
Currently, the park is producing 2,627 megawatts.
While an additional 233 megawatts will be added by the end of the first quarter of next year, bringing the total capacity to 2,860 megawatts.
MBRS will be able to provide electricity to 1.4 million homes.
Moreover, Al Jumairi made the announcement at a press conference on the sidelines of the COP28 climate summit in Dubai.
He said that a new company, Shams 4, has been established to oversee the implementation of the sixth phase.
DEWA owns 60% of the company, and the remaining 40% owned by Masdar, Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company.
Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park is the largest single-site solar park in the world.
As per expectations, it will reach a capacity of 5,000 megawatts by 2030, with total investments of 50 billion dirhams.
When completed, the park will help to reduce more than 6.5 million tons of carbon emissions annually.

Green Hydrogen Project
Mohamed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park’s green hydrogen project, implemented by DEWA.
And in partnership with Expo 2020 Dubai and Siemens Energy, is a key initiative in supporting the UAE’s efforts to become a global leader in the green hydrogen market.
It is also the first of its kind in the Middle East and North Africa to produce hydrogen using solar energy, store it, and then convert it back into electricity.
