New MoU Between the UAE Ministry of Investment and the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance.
The UAE Ministry of Investment and the Greek Ministry of Digital Governance signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This MoU aims at establishing a framework for investing in digital infrastructure, specifically focusing on data center projects in Greece.
Moreover, the agreement was signed by UAE Minister of Investment Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi and Greek Minister of Digital Governance Dimitris Papastergiou.
Mentioning that data centers developed under this agreement can reach a total capacity of 500 megawatts.
Goals and Benefits:
This initiative aims to significantly expand Greece’s data center infrastructure.
By adding additional 139 megawatts of power capacity through new data centers planned for development over the next five years.
In fact, this expansion positions Greece to become the largest data hub in Southeast Europe.
And also as the second largest data hub in the Mediterranean by 2028.
Highlighting that the agreement reinforces the UAE’s commitment to promoting digital infrastructure development and Greece’s ambition to become a leading technology hub.
UAE Minister of Investment Comment on the New Collaboration
H.E Sheikh Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, UAE Minister of Investment, said:
“This memorandum of understanding will play a significant role in strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries.
It also reiterates our shared vision regarding the pivotal role of technology and data processing in supporting the digital economy.
We look forward to see how the new investments in the Hellenic Republic data center projects will contribute to the development of the rapidly growing digital infrastructure.
Also, itt will provide additional opportunities for institutions and companies to benefit from the advantages of digitization.”

Dimitris Papastergiou, Greek Minister of Digital Governance also commented:
