The Abu Dhabi environmental urban expansion Masdar City has formally broken the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest mosaic made from recycled materials, by building a 1,015m2 mosaic – which is approximately the size of two basketball courts – out of 90,500 recycled materials.
The mosaic, which took one month to assemble, includes plastic bottles, cans, and cardboard.
It was put together by a member of the local community, including Masdar City employees, tenants, and local residents, along with members of the wider Abu Dhabi community and schoolchildren.
Revealed before the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2020, the mosaic goals to inspire UAE citizens, residents, and companions to take accountability to reduce, reuse, and recycle their waste.
The mosaic artwork shows the evolution of the UAE, from its origins to today, and even provides a looking to the future.
Delegates from the world Guinness Records offered Masdar City with the official proof documentation in an exceptional ceremony concentrated by the city’s managers and UAE government representatives.
