Ma’an Authority Launches Ma’an Grants Programme initiative

The Community Contributions Authority – Ma’an announced the launch of its Ma’an Grants Programme initiative to provide the necessary financial support for the development and empowerment of existing social institutions, civil enterprises and public benefit institutions that work to achieve the goals of community development and progress in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The Ma’an Grants Programme initiative is in line with the Ma’an Authority’s strategy to support the growth of a prosperous and sustainable third sector in the emirate, which includes institutions with social goals that are consistent with promoting the values of a culture of giving, cooperation and community participation. In addition, the program seeks to support the objectives of the Department of Community Development in supporting the growth of the third sector, and the endeavors of the Community Contributions Authority – Ma’an in promoting social innovation leadership and supporting the growth and activation of emerging social projects with the aim of empowering the third sector.

As one of the Tomorrow 21 initiatives, the Community Contributions Authority – Ma’an constitutes a link between the public and private sectors and civil society institutions to enhance the culture of community participation and partnership through its programs, such as the Social Investment Fund, which implemented the “Ma’an We Are Good” program, and the Social Incubator and Accelerator Program, which “Ma’an”, through it, recently announced the winning teams in the third cycle to provide innovative solutions to enhance family cohesion.

Ma’an Grants Programme initiative benefits

Eligible organizations can benefit from the Ma’an Grants Programme initiative by applying for financial support in order to expand their businesses and enhance their social impact in order to create tangible positive change by providing solutions to social challenges in Abu Dhabi.

The authority will cooperate with the grant-winning social, non-governmental and public benefit institutions to ensure that these entities achieve a sustainable and measurable social impact in the emirate, as well as focus their efforts on building a healthy and cohesive society.

On this occasion, His Excellency Salama Al Amimi, Director General of the Authority for Community Contributions – Ma’an said: “We consider the launch of the Ma’an Grants Programme initiative an important achievement that will be recorded in the Authority’s march to create a positive social impact in Abu Dhabi society, which represents an important step to support the growth of a thriving third sector capable of carrying out its tasks and finding solutions. She continued: “Abu Dhabi society enjoys a set of positive values such as love and cooperation, which play an effective role in empowering social institutions willing to support the local community.

The Ma’an Grants Programme initiative aims to identify and support social enterprises that provide the most innovative solutions, by providing the necessary financial support to achieve their goals and expand their business. By launching these constructive initiatives, the authority seeks to consolidate the values of giving, cooperation and placing society in the first place, in addition to achieving a positive impact on the lifestyle of the residents of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

In order to obtain financial support from the Ma’an Grants Programme initiative, the applicant entity must be a social institution, a non-governmental organization, or a public benefit institution legally registered and licensed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and its objectives are in line with the social priorities in Abu Dhabi.

According to the results of the Quality of Life Questionnaire for the year 2018, the Department of Community Development identified areas of social priorities according to the following, to be the main pillars of the Ma’an Grants Programme initiative to work according to them and contribute to addressing them:

Community and family

Focusing on projects aimed at enhancing community cohesion and communication, activating the participation of all groups in society, especially people of determination, senior citizens and residents, and encouraging wider participation in volunteer activities to serve the community.

Quality of life and health

Focusing on projects that aim to enhance the quality of life by providing innovative programs and solutions to enhance the mental and physical health of the Abu Dhabi community.

Education and skills development

Focusing on projects aimed at empowering the younger generation through learning and developing skills.

Through a team of experts in this field, the authority provides assistance to those wishing to apply for grants, and after approval of the application, their projects, objectives and effectiveness are discussed to be sustainable and measurable solutions before providing them with financial support.

For his part, Faisal Al-Hamoudi, Director of the Social Contracts Department at the Community Contributions Authority said: “The Community Contributions Authority looks forward to working with social institutions, civil enterprises and public benefit institutions. We aim to build a prosperous and sustainable third sector committed to creating a positive social impact and achieving societal development by strengthening a variety of social institutions. ”

The launch of the Ma’an Grants Programme initiative represents an additional step for the authority and its mission towards creating a positive social impact. The Incubator and Social Accelerator program was a cornerstone for creating innovative products and solutions that helped address current social challenges.

Social impact entrepreneurs have developed their ideas, through mentoring, training, and paving the way to access expertise and investors, so that these ideas grow and become integrated civil institutions that benefit people of determination and those in need of mental health care.

In addition, the Social Investment Fund receives contributions from the public sector, the private sector and society. Through the fund, shareholders can provide support to create a third sector aimed at addressing important social issues.
