Liwa Date Festival Announces “UAE Forts” Theme for Heritage Sculpture Competition
The organizing committee of Liwa Date Festival has announced that “UAE Forts” will be the theme for the “Most Beautiful Heritage Sculpture” competition at the 20th edition of the festival, which will be held in Liwa City in Al Dhafra region from July 15 to 28.

- Requirements:
- Participants must select a specific fort and provide a reason for their choice.
- A brief history of the fort, its construction process, and the materials used must be included.
- The materials used in the construction of the sculpture must match those used in the actual fort.
- The sculpture must be an accurate representation of the chosen fort in terms of scale and proportion.
- The sculpture must measure 1.5 square meters.
Goals of Liwa Date Festival:
- Encouraging farmers to care for date palms and fruit trees.
- Working on improving their production and raising the quality of the product.
- Expanding the cultivation of commercial varieties.
- Educating them about modern methods in this field.
- Urging them to innovate, develop, and be creative in agricultural and production methods.
- Reinforcing the historical status of the date palm tree and preserve it.
- Conserving the rich cultural and heritage heritage of the UAE and pass it on to future generations.
- Supporting the owners of farms producing dates, fruits, and local agricultural products.
- Achieving sustainable agricultural development and strengthening the food security system.
Additional Information:
Liwa Date Festival features 23 competitions that celebrate dates, summer fruits, and heritage.
These include 11 date competitions, 7 fruit competitions, 3 model farm competitions and 2 “Most Beautiful Sheep” competitions.
In addition to 1 “Most Beautiful Heritage Sculpture” competition.

The date competitions include 8 competitions for individual varieties (Dibas, Khalas, Farz, Khanizi, Boman, Shishi, Khalas from Al Ain farms, and Farz from Al Ain farms).
As well as Liwa Elite Date Competition, which requires the submission of at least 15 varieties of dates, and the Al Dhafra Elite Date Competition, which requires the submission of at least 20 varieties of dates.
Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority has published a booklet of Liwa Date Festival competitions for its 20th edition on its “Our Heritage” platforms on social media.
The booklet includes submission deadlines, conditions for each competition, and registration procedures through the festival’s smart electronic application.
