According to Yanina Latorre, a friend of Messi family and an Argentine media personality, Messi plans to return to Barcelona once his commitments with Inter Miami are over, as reported by The Mirror.
No Intention of Staying in Miami
Latorre, who visited Messi’s home in the United States, told La Nacion:
“Messi told me he’s happy here in Miami, but he plans to return to Barcelona after his contract ends.”
Latorre added that Lionel Messi assured her he has no intention of staying in Miami beyond the end of his contract, saying:
“My place is there, in Barcelona.”
Meanwhile, Jorge Mas, co-owner of Inter Miami, has hinted at the possibility of Messi staying with the team.
This is until the opening of their new Miami Freedom Park stadium in 2026.
Mas said: “Messi is committed to a contract until the end of the 2025 season.
We will sit down together to discuss his future.
I expect Messi to be our number 10 when we open our new stadium in the 2026 season.”
