In Kurdistan, Iraq, ERC intensifies the humanitarian response
In order to strengthen its overall response to the humanitarian crisis in Kurdistan, Iraq. Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) has initiated a winter clothing drive, delivering food and humanitarian assistance to Syrian and Iraqi refugees in 14 camps. Also assisting needy families in Northern Iraq.
The activities of the ERC in the region have helped thousands of families both within and outside the refugee camps.
ERC floods Kurdistan with aids
As part of its continuing efforts to help millions of refugees and homeless and needy families in many local areas. ERC also provided more logistical assistance to health facilities in northern Iraq by providing 10 ambulances to the Ministry of Health of Iraqi Kurdistan. This was through the country’s embassy in Erbil.
The ‘Ataya Hospital for Motherhood and Childhood’ was founded by the ERC in Erbil to accept COVID-19 cases and provide them with adequate health care as part of the ERC’s efforts to assist Kurdistan’s health sector in combating the coronavirus, COVID-19, pandemic and limiting its spread in the region.
The hospital is funded by the proceeds of the fourth edition of the Ataya Charity Fair, organized under the auspices of H.H. Shamsa bint Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, who is the wife of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the ERC for Women’s Affairs, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, and Chair of the Higher Committee of the Ataya Initiative.
Humanity is always above all in the UAE
Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, ERC Secretary-General, noted the monitoring by Sheikh Hamdan of the humanitarian and development situation in Iraqi Kurdistan. Help for the northern Iraqi health sector by the ERC focuses on the reconstruction of health facilities. It also focuses on the availability of other logistics resources and equipment. This is such as medical instruments and medicines.
The UAE Consul-General in Erbil, Ahmed Al Dhaheri, highlighted the UAE’s main role in establishing and rebuilding Northern Iraq under the guidelines of its leadership.
