Khalifa Shaheen Al Marar, Minister of State, led the UAE delegation at the 20th extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers on the situation in Gaza, which took place yesterday in Jeddah.
According to Emirates News Agency (WAM), the extraordinary meeting was attended by a large number of foreign ministers from OIC member states.
During the session, Al Marar delivered the UAE’s statement.
He underscored the critical and decisive nature of this moment in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and required bold decisions.
As they can confront grave challenges threatening the Palestinian cause, regional stability, and security.
A Call for Political and Peaceful Solutions
Al Marar stressed the necessity of increased coordination and cooperation among OIC nations.
He advocated a political and peaceful approach to resolve the conflict rather than resorting to confrontation and destruction.
Al Marar stated:
“It is unacceptable to return to the status quo in Gaza before October 7, 2023.”

He also condemned and denounced the ongoing violence and Israeli attacks in the occupied West Bank.
Besides that, he called on the international community to fulfill its responsibilities in stopping Israel’s continuous violations.
The UAE categorically rejected all attempts to forcibly displace Palestinians from their land.
Warning that such actions would only exacerbate instability and tensions in the region.
A Sustainable Solution for Gaza and the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict
Khalifa Al Marar reaffirmed:
“Temporary solutions for Gaza are bound to fail.
There must be a responsible and sustainable process.
This process should secure not only the future of Gaza but also a comprehensive resolution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
A process that establishes a political horizon based on the two-state solution.
And ensures the creation of an independent Palestinian state that coexists in security and peace alongside Israel.
This is the only path toward a lasting solution that guarantees stability, prosperity, and fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people.”

Clear Political Horizon
He further stressed:
“Rebuilding Gaza will not be possible without a clear political horizon that ensures a sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Forced displacement of Palestinians is unacceptable.
Gaza cannot remain without a legitimate, competent, and responsible Palestinian national authority capable of maintaining security, stability, and upholding the rule of law.”
