His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, witnessed part of the activities of the Al Hosn Festival.
The Department of Culture and Tourism-Abu Dhabi is the organizer of this festival.
Which is taking place from 19 to 28 January at the historic Al Hosn site.

During the visit, His Highness viewed the craft exhibitions and artistic creations that celebrate the Emirati heritage.
He also attended part of the traditional and cultural musical performances.
His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed stressed the importance of cultural and heritage activities and events.
Including Al Hosn Festival, as theses activities are preserving and promoting the Emirati heritage.
And also strengthening its position in the minds of young generations.
This is by highlighting the Emirati heritage as a national symbol that reflects the depth and originality of Emirati traditions.
It is also a source of pride and appreciation for the cultural and civilizational legacy of our ancestors.
Entertainment program
This year’s edition of Al Hosn Festival features a program packed with cultural, artistic and entertainment activities.
Which are reflecting the authenticity and depth of Emirati heritage values.
Moreover, it showcases traditional performing arts and handicrafts.
And it is also a definition of the traditions and values of the United Arab Emirates.
The festival contributes to supporting and showcasing a diverse range of creative projects.
And is a vibrant platform for creators, artists and heritage arts experts.
So they interact with the public, exchange ideas and visions, and encourage communication and cooperation between parties concerned with supporting the Emirati cultural and heritage movement.
The characteristics and features of the “Frig”.
The festival allows visitors to see the characteristics and features of the “Frig”.
Which is a replica of the traditional residential neighborhood in the old Emirati society.
This is through a design that mimics the narrow residential alleys of the past, and the paths that led to the popular market.
Where the Dakakin (Stores) and traditional workshops offer heritage experiences.
Such as making “Dukhoun” and incense in the traditional way, dyeing textiles, engraving henna drawings.
And also making “Tali” (one of the popular female crafts, which focuses on embroidery and sewing) and pottery and burqa.
In addition to making “Khous” (weaving palm fronds by hand), as well as making fishing nets (Al-Likh) and fish traps (Al-Qarqour).
This year’s program also includes:
“Sahat Al Sanaa: The Emirati Home Edition”, a creative space showcasing the works of traditional craftsmen and contemporary artists.
As well as furniture designers, and makers of essential design materials that characterize the Emirati home.
Heritage area
The festival’s dedicated heritage area hosts a range of performances that focus on Emirati traditions.
Alongside enjoying a special shopping experience at the Souq Al Soug, which offers the finest jewelry and perfumes.
The festival also dedicates an area for visitors to get to know camels up close.
Given their importance and connection to our heritage and culture.
Where “Hadu Al-Ibel” performances are presented.
Which is one of the forms of traditional oral expressions and a means of communication between the camel and its shepherd.
This cultural element has been included by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in its Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Beit Al Harfeyin this year presents “Al-Ruwib”: A space dedicated to henna engraving.
Beit Al Herfeyin invites visitors to learn about the historical, artistic and cultural aspects of this authentic heritage.
In addition to its importance in Emirati culture, where ladies can decorate their hands with distinctive henna designs.
The Arab coffee championships will also return this year to celebrate its importance in Arab hospitality.
In order to honor more winners for their distinguished skills in preparing and presenting it.
As for children, Abu Dhabi Library for Children has dedicated a program for them entitled “Bayt Bayt”.
Through which they learn to practice traditional games that were invented before the advent of technology.
