1,400,000 standard 20-foot containers handled by Jebel Ali port
During July, Jebel Ali Port, which is part of DP World (Dubai Ports World), achieved a new record in monthly container handling.
It handled 1,400,000 standard 20-foot containers, surpassing the previous record set in 2015.
This achievement was driven by strong performance during the first half of 2024.
Moreover, the port handled a total of 7.3 million containers—an annual increase of 3.9%.
The growth can be attributed to increased cargo flow from major Asian markets such as China, Japan, and South Korea.
JAFZA Expansion
Jebel Ali’s outstanding performance aligns with Dubai’s strategic goals outlined in the D33 Economic Agenda.
Additionally, the continuous expansion of Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZA) plays a pivotal role in driving container traffic through the port.
Currently, JAFZA hosts around 10,500 companies and it continues to attract leading global businesses.
Contributing to trade volume and economic diversification.
Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Chairman and CEO of DP World, commented:
“Jebel Ali Port has been a fundamental catalyst for trade growth and economic enhancement in Dubai and the broader region for over 45 years.
As one of the world’s largest and most efficient ports, Jebel Ali serves as a cornerstone in DP World’s global network.
It significantly contributes to Dubai’s ambitious economic vision.”
Consistent Achievements
Abdulla Bin Damithan, CEO and Managing Director of DP World, GCC Countries, highlighted the following:
“Jebel Ali port new record reflects their commitment to excellence in global trade.
The port’s ability to consistently achieve new container handling milestones demonstrates the success of strategic investments in technology and infrastructure.
And also a robust trade ecosystem within JAFZA and Dubai.”

Looking ahead, they anticipate further growth driven by ongoing efforts to strengthen their global network.
Especially following recent trade agreements between the UAE and other countries.
Furthermore, DP World’s strategic focus on expanding its logistical and digital platforms will enhance operational capabilities.
And also will improve customer service offerings, and support continuous growth in trade flow.
