The United Arab Emirates has condemned the criminal vehicle attack that occurred during a Filipino community festival in Vancouver, Canada.
This attack resulted the death and injury of several innocent people.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the UAE’s strong denunciation of such criminal acts.
As well as its consistent rejection of all forms of violence targeting civilians and undermining security and stability.
The Ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and sympathy to the government and people of Canada and the Philippines.
And also to the families of the victims of this reprehensible act, wishing a speedy recovery to all those injured.
Not Terrorism-Related
Vancouver police ruled out terrorism as a motive in the vehicle attack.
Adding that it claimed the lives of 11 people at the Filipino Heritage Festival in Vancouver, Canada and stating that the suspect has a history of mental health issues.
Interim Vancouver Police Chief Steve Rai said at a press conference:
“We have had significant prior interactions with him regarding mental health concerns.”
The suspect had driven a vehicle into a crowd at the festival, killing 11 and injuring more than 20 others.
This incident shook the country just days before the federal elections.

Investigation is Underway to Determine the Reason of Vancouver Vehicle Attack
A resident from Vancouver was arrested, and authorities continue to investigate the motive.
However, police initially stated they are confident that Vancouver vehicle attack was not a terrorist act.
Prime Minister Mark Carney, who canceled his first election event on the final day of campaigning before today’s vote, said:
“An investigation is underway to determine how and why this horrific attack occurred.
Authorities have confirmed that one individual is in custody and is believed to have acted alone.”
Footage from the aftermath showed victims lying along a narrow street in South Vancouver lined with food trucks.
The suspect’s SUV appeared heavily damaged at the front.
