UAE Participates in International Geological Survey Meeting
The United Arab Emirates participated in the International Geological Survey Meeting.
The meeting was held as part of the 4th International Mining Conference in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
It aimed to enhance international cooperation in the mining sector.
Besides developing geological capacities in order to contribute to increased production of essential minerals which supports energy transition and industrial development.
Who Attended the Meeting ?
The UAE delegation was headed by HH Engineer Ali Qassim, Director-General of the Fujairah Natural Resources Corporation.
It also included representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
The meeting was also attended by heads of geological surveys from Africa and Asia.
As well as prestigious international organizations such as:
- British Geological Survey
- United States Geological Survey
- French Geological Survey
- Geological Survey of Finland
What are the Key Topics Discussed in the International Geological Survey Meeting ?
The meeting discussed several key topics, most notably enhancing capacities for increased geological surveys.
Besides enabling more exploration and contributing to scientific advancement.
In order to address the challenges related to the capabilities of geological survey organizations.
The meeting also witnessed the launch of an international initiative to form three core coordination groups.
Those groups are focusing on developing talent, sharing data, and establishing a geological center of excellence.
Laying Foundations
His Excellency Engineer Ali Qassim emphasized the importance of this meeting.
As it is laying the foundations for the global and regional minerals industry sustainable development.

Adding that the International Geological Survey Meeting contributes to the following:

He pointed out that the participation of the UAE delegation aims to strengthen cooperation and relations between the participating countries.
