On Sunday, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi’s Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces received United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, who is presently on a trip to the UAE for the Abu Dhabi Climate Meeting that kicked-off from 30th June, Sunday
During the meeting, held at the Emirates Palace, the two sides conferred on the means to reinforce collaboration between the UAE and the UN, and mainly focusing on the humanitarian relief, environmental stability, and development sectors.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and UN Secretary-General Guterres also explored on regional and international matters and developments of mutual interest, especially those having connection with Yemen, Syria, and Libya, along with endeavors to achieve global peace and stability.
Over 1,000 world-renowned political figures and climate action experts are going to be a part of the Abu Dhabi Climate Meeting. H.H. Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, and H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, were also present during the meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and United Nations Secretary-General Guterres.
His Highness greeted the UN Secretary-General, wishing him success during the Abu Dhabi Climate Meeting proceedings and global endeavors to address the influence of climate change. In fact, His Highness acknowledged the UN Secretary-General’s visit to the UAE, stressing the nation’s eagerness in accordance with the leaderships’ orders to further develop its partnerships with international institutions and bodies involved with humanitarian development work.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and UN Secretary-General emphasized on the significance of events like the Abu Dhabi Climate Meeting, which is being hosted by the UAE in association with the United Nations. The high-level meeting acts as a forerunner to the UN Climate Action Summit in New York in September 2019 and intends to sketch the agenda and draft resolutions to be presented at the Summit.
