
Mohammed bin Rashid highlights technology during his tour in GITEX 2020
H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum visited the 40th edition of GITEX Technology Week, GITEX 2020, which was being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC). GITEX is the world’s only live, in-person global technology event to be held amid the pandemic in which 1,200 exhibitors from around the world took part in the week.

His Highness highlighted the importance of the technology sector in transitioning to the future during the tour in GITEX, adding that focused efforts are required to generate innovative technologies that can tide over the challenges posed by the revitalise humanity’s journey of progress and pandemic.
His Highness said The decision of organising GITEX Technology Week reflects the United Arab Emirates’s commitment to supporting its major partners in the global technology industry across the world, and the determination to overcome the current circumstances. We seek to strengthen and expand our long-standing partnership with them to speed up our shared journey to the future by organising GITEX this year.
President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre Authority, DWTCA, His Excellency Helal Saeed Al Marri, and Director-General of the Dubai Protocol and Hospitality Department, H.E. Khalifa Saeed Sulaiman accompanied His Highness, Sheikh Mohammed during his tour.
GITEX 2020 included several pavilions
His Highness visited the Microsoft stand during his tour, where General Manager for Microsoft Gulf, Sayed Hashish, briefed him on the company’s latest innovations including artificial intelligence and internet of things, solutions designed to strengthen food security. The General Manager also briefed the Microsoft Surface product portfolio and select partner innovations.
Sheikh Mohammed visited the Huawei pavilion, where he was briefed on the company’s latest innovations and solutions. Huawei has strengthened its commitment to the United Arab Emirates’ digital transformation agenda with its largest ever participation in GITEX Technology Week this year.
Charles Yang noted that Huawei has supported the development of 5,000 Information and Communications Technology (ICT) professionals in the country, created 3,000 job opportunities in the sector, and established partnerships with over 300 partners in the UAE. Huawei announced its commitment to supporting 10,000 ICT professionals in the UAE over the next three years.
GITEX 2020 hosts several nations
The 40th edition of GITEX Technology Week is an umbrella for the region’s leading technology offerings which include Gulf Information Security Exhibition and Conference, GISEC, GITEX Future Stars, the region’s largest emerging technology event, and the region’s most well-known cybersecurity conference and exhibition; Future Blockchain Summit, inaugural Marketing Mania, the new platform for brand marketers and the leading platform for transformational technology.
GITEX is hosting several nations including Brazil, Italy, Hong Kong, Poland, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, France, Japan, USA, UK, Belgium, Russia and Nigeria.
The event has attracted major technology players including Honeywell, Huawei, IBM, Lenovo, Microsoft, Avaya, Dell Technologies, Du, Etisalat, Red Hat and more. The event has also attracted the participation of many governments across the UAE.
