Recently, the Department of Health, Abu Dhabi seeks to expand the scope of the National Screening Programme in a step towards examining the largest possible number of people residing within the entire emirate, particularly those residents in high-density areas. Starting last Saturday “May 30, 2020”, the Free Covid-19 tests in multiple housing complexes have started for free, as part of the state-sponsored National Screening Programme.
Free Covid-19 tests … medical screening tests
The National Screening Programme:
Thus, the first national screening center was established in Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi. During the visit of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, to the center, he directed the efforts towards establishing centers in all the emirates of the state. Accordingly, all directives were implemented immediately and the project was finished within ten working days.
Indeed, the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company has completed a project to establish 14 National Screening Centers with all emirates to provide a vehicle inspection service to citizens and residents, as working on the project took 10 days and the centers are now operating in high efficiency and receiving various persons daily from Sunday to Thursday “from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm”.
The importance of the National Screening Programme:
The importance of implementing the National Screening Programme is to carry out free COVID-19 tests for all members of the society without contact, and for the person who wishes to conduct the examination within in his vehicle, in which he enters the information required through the identity card, and then the process of screening is conducted to check and confirm if that person is injured or not.
The National Screening Centers in the country represent a %100 protection rate for the first line of doctors and medical staff and the protection of persons, due to the lack of direct contact with them, as they are located in easily-accessible places, and the process of screening does not take more than 3 minutes.
Implementing the free Covid-19 tests:
It is worth noting that the National Screening Center in Abu Dhabi witnessed – from day one – an increasing number of people wishing to conduct early detection of the new COVID-19, whether citizens or residents, especially those who have priority in the examination, such as older persons, pregnant women, and sick people. This, if anything, indicates the keenness of the community members to preserve their safety and health. It also indicates their awareness of the importance of the epidemiological investigation, and early tests to detect and besiege injuries, to isolate their owners, to provide them with the necessary medical care, and to prevent them from mixing with others, which helps in trapping the infection and preventing its spread among persons.
Despite the active demand for the examination, the center did not witness any crowds or delays for persons who attended to be tested; the process went easily and smoothly and in less than 5 minutes. That is because the process is organized, and the medical, nursing and technical teams and volunteers are working within one integrated team, in addition to the technical and logistical services available in the center are at the highest level of performance and specifications.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed’s keenness:
The wise leadership under His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is keen to provide all support, to implement all preventive and precautionary measures for the health and safety of all members of society, citizens and residents, and to protect them from COVID-19.
