United Arab Emirates Announces Operation of World’s First Clean Energy Vertical Landing Pad
The United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) announced the operational approval for the first clean energy vertical landing pad (vertiport) in the country.
This vertiport complies with the world’s first regulations for clean energy vertiports.
The announcement comes during the “Drijf X” event held at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.
This event highlights the applications of smart and autonomous vehicles.
As well as their role in shaping the future of urban mobility and enhancing the efficiency of the transportation sector in the UAE.
His Excellency Saif Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Director General of GCAA, commented:
“This achievement reflects the commitment of the GCAA and the industry to accelerate the adoption of advanced air mobility applications in the UAE.
It underscores our proactive and pioneering approach in issuing national regulations that pave the way for the safe and efficient operation of clean energy vertiports.
It also represents a first step towards exploring the full potential of advanced air mobility and fostering innovation in the transportation sector.”
Mr. Badr Salim Sultan Al Olama, Acting Director General of Abu Dhabi Investment Office, stated:
“The GCAA has played a pivotal role in leading the development of standards and guidelines.
That support the growth of a sustainable advanced air mobility sector.
We will work together to solidify Abu Dhabi’s position as a global capital for the development of smart and autonomous vehicle applications.”
