Expo 2020 Dubai and the Environment week

Opening on 1 October 2021, Expo 2020 Dubai seeks to establish a global venue for dialogue, cooperation and consensus on some of humanity’s greatest issues, and Environment and Biodiversity Week is the second in a sequence of weeks where policymakers, researchers, participants in the Expo and the public can come together in the lead-up to the global mega-event to address these problems and debate them.

The Digital Climate and Biodiversity Week will take place on 20-21 October 2020 in collaboration with Expo’s Premier Global Trade Partner DP World, with keynote remarks from Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashemy, Minister of State for International Cooperation and Director-General of the Dubai Bureau of Expo 2020, and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World.

Razan Al Mubarak, Managing Director of the Abu Dhabi Agency for the Environment; Sir Tim Smit KBE, Co-Founder of the Eden Project; and Paula J. Ehrlich, President and CEO of the E.O. Wilson Center for Biodiversity.

Expo 2020 Dubai got a lot of potential

The declaration earlier this month of Expo 2020 and DP World becoming a Global Partnership Founding Member of The Earthshot Prize follows Environment and Biodiversity Week. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge Royal Foundation and Prince William created the massive global environmental project, the most ambitious environmental award in history. It aims to incentivize action for decades to come to rebuild our climate and better life on Earth.

The progress of mankind in overcoming climate change and the destruction of biodiversity, which together pose an existential danger to life on our precious earth, depends on the world coming together. Expo 2020 welcomes the world’s most inspiring and visionary minds to work on how we will solve two of our most urgent environmental problems for the benefit of nature and humanity.
