The UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, represented by the Emirates EV Charging Stations Company, has collaborated with the Emirates General Transport and Services Corporation (Mwasalat Al Emarat) to launch a joint project to operate electric vehicles (EV) charging stations within Mwasalat Al Emarat buildings.

As part of the UAE EV Charging Stations Company’s goals, this initiative supports the transformative project “Global Electric Vehicle Market”.
It aims at accelerating the adoption of green transportation.
In addition, it increases the share of electric and hybrid vehicles to 50% of the total fleet by 2050.
This aligns with the UAE’s strategic targets for climate neutrality by 2050 and its energy strategy for 2050.

Engineer Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure for Energy and Petroleum Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE EV Charging Stations Company, stated:
“In this project, we aim to conduct joint studies on the future of public transportation using hydrogen fuel, in order to:
- Assess sustainable transportation methods.
- Engage stakeholders.
- Collaborate to support the UAE’s climate neutrality targets in the transportation sector by 2050.
We also work together to establish policies for private sector EV adoption in the UAE.”
EVs accounted for 13% of total vehicle sales in the UAE
He added: “The electric vehicle market is steadily growing in our country.
By the end of last year, EVs accounted for 13% of total vehicle sales.
We also plan to increase this share to 50% by 2050.
