
Mohammed bin Rashid analyses environmental schemes being built by Dubai
As part of the country’s policy to ensure environmental protection, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, said the UAE is committed to introducing creative initiatives that maximize the use of capital and address key challenges.
Environmental schemes in Dubai
Environmental sustainability, a core aspect of the UAE development model, is expressed in all policies and projects undertaken by government agencies, individually or in collaboration with the private sector, His Highness said. Sustainability, he said, is essential to the potential readiness of the UAE.
Our efforts to advance sustainability and provide a high quality of life both now and in the future are at the core of ensuring a clean climate. We have followed global best practices and have initiated ambitious initiatives to conserve our environment and ensure the health and welfare of people in the UAE, “His Highness said.”
Environmental and development projects
Sheikh Mohammed’s remarks came during a study of the environmental and development projects being built at a cost of AED6.6 billion by the Dubai Municipality. H.H, H.H. The review was attended by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Group and Emirates Airline.
In the Warsan area of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid reviewed a proposal to develop the Dubai Centre for Waste Management. The AED4 billion facility, one of the largest in the world in terms of ability to handle waste, can run without any negative environmental effects. It is also capable of handling 5,666 metric tons of municipal solid waste per day and 1,9 million metric tons of municipal solid waste per year and has the ability to produce 200 megawatts of electricity per year that will meet the requirements of 135,000 residential units. In 2023, the first phase of the project will be finished and in 2024 the whole project will be completed.
