The achievements of Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi were part of the government plans to reach the goals of many climate initiatives.
Such as the 2050 Climate Neutrality Strategic Initiative.
The achievements of Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) include:
- Participation in the COP28 Conference of the Parties (COP28), which the UAE hosted at Expo Dubai.
Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi participated in more than 170 events during the conference.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to addressing the impacts of climate change.As well as implementing Abu Dhabi Climate Change Strategy, and achieving the goals of the 2050 Climate Neutrality Strategic Initiative.
- Hosting the World Environmental Education Congress (WEEC).
Moreover, this event will be held from January 28 to February 2, 2024, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Centre (ADNEC).
WEEC is a major global event that brings together environmental education experts from around the world. - Achieving strong results in 50 of the EAD’s annual key performance indicators (KPIs).
Which focused on various environmental sectors.
Including waste, marine water quality, air quality, soil quality, biodiversity, groundwater, and sustainable fishing. These results contributed to the EAD winning 17 awards at the local and international levels in 2023. - Implementing important capital projects, including the establishment of the Plant Genetic Resources Center.
In addition to the establishment of marine cages for fish farming in Delma Island, and the seed storage center, which will be the first of its kind in the region. - Making significant achievements with the “Jean” marine research vessel.
Which is the first and most advanced research vessel in the country.
Since its launch, the vessel has traveled 30,000 kilometers during 4,000 hours of operation and collected 2,900 samples.The President of the State issues a law establishing the “Abu Dhabi Center for Hazardous Materials Management”, which is affiliated with the Abu Dhabi Police General Command, with the aim of developing an integrated system for managing hazardous materials in the emirate pic.twitter.com/Nv8kBctkj7
