Empower Reports Record Growth in District Cooling Demand
Empower is the world’s largest district cooling services provider.
Moreover, Empower recorded increase in its customers’ district cooling consumption by more than 54% (tons of refrigeration per hour) over the past five years.
The increase in 2023 alone was 16% (tons of refrigeration per hour) compared to 2022.
Empower’s market share in Dubai’s district cooling market exceeded 80% by the end of 2023.
Mentioning that the growing annual rates of district cooling consumption by its customers in Dubai are one of the main drivers of achieving sustainable revenues and profits.
Demand Drivers
Empower attributed the remarkable growth in demand for its services in various areas of Dubai to:
- The high occupancy rate in existing real estate projects.
- The increase in mixed-use projects number that have recently joined the company’s portfolio.
This has contributed to achieving a range of economic and environmental benefits.
Especially since district cooling systems have become one of the most prominent scientific and practical solutions to:
- Address climate change
- Protect the environment
- Reduce carbon emissions
- Conserve natural resources
- Reduce energy consumption.
- In addition, district cooling has a positive impact on the cost of living and doing business.
Diversified Portfolio
The company indicated that it provided its services to more than 1,527 buildings in 2023.
These buildings were distributed across the following sectors:
- Residential: 66%
- Offices, shopping, and entertainment: 14%
- Hospitality and hotels: 13%
- Healthcare: 2%
- Other sectors: 5%
