About My School is My Identity initiative.
My School is My Identity is a humanitarian and social initiative launched by the Emirates Red Crescent in Lattakia – Syria.
The aim of the initiative is to rehabilitate and maintain about 40 schools that were damaged by the earthquake that happened on February 6, 2023.
A delegation from the ERC, headed by Hamoud Abdullah Al-Junaibi, the acting Secretary-General, visited several schools in Lattakia.
In order to inspect the latest progress on maintenance and rehabilitation works under the “My School is My Identity” initiative.
Since some of the schools were completely out of service as a result of the February 6 earthquake.
In fact, this initiative comes within the framework of the continuous efforts of the United Arab Emirates to provide humanitarian and relief assistance to the Syrian people. Especially in light of the difficult conditions they are going through.
Al-Junaibi said that the launch of the initiative came after a study by the Crescent’s team in Syria.
He stressed that the maintenance and rehabilitation works are proceeding at a high pace.
So the schools will be ready to receive students before the start of the next academic year by September.

Al-Junaibi also stressed that the Crescent’s team in Syria is closely monitoring the maintenance and rehabilitation works.
To ensure that they are carried out in accordance with the highest technical specifications.
So schools will return to their previous condition and even better.

H.E Muhammad Khamis Al-Kaabi said that the initiative aims to instill a sense of interest in students for their school.
As well as preserving its property as part of their identity.
Furthermore, he explained the following:
“My School is My Identity” and the other humanitarian and relief initiatives by the UAE in Syria embodies a path towards recovery from the effects of the earthquake.
Moreover, the initiative includes the maintenance of:
Classrooms, halls, sanitary facilities, bathrooms, classrooms, and administrative halls.
As well as providing schools with the necessary equipment and furniture, during the early recovery phase after the effects of the earthquake.
The working team efforts in Syria are valuable.
The officials of the Emirates Red Crescent have praised the efforts made by the working team in Syria.
Furthermore, they stressed the need to continue working to ensure the completion of the initiative on its scheduled date.
So the Syrian students return to their schools in safe conditions.
In brief, the main objectives of the initiative are:
- Securing a safe educational environment for students so they can return to schools on the scheduled date.
- Enhancing the role of the school in society by improving the quality of education in the governorate.
- Motivating the students to preserve their public property.
As we can see this initiative will surely enhance the spirit of solidarity between the UAE and the Syrian brothers.
In fact, “My School is My Identity” initiative is a successful humanitarian and social initiative.
Since it has contributed to achieve many goals including safe educational environment for students.
