In honor of KhalifaSat, Emirates Post has issued a commemorative stamp. KhalifaSat the first-ever Arab satellite was fired into the orbit from Japan last year. It was the first satellite that was designed and made by Emirati engineers’ right from the scratch. The satellite was built at the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre in Dubai and has been broadcasting clear images back to Earth since its launch.
Emirates Post, in collaboration with Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), acknowledges the KhalifaSat with a commemorative stamp, which displays the image of the satellite’s blasting off into outer space over the UAE. The development of KhalifaSat by 100% Emirati engineering team marked one of the greatest landmarks for the UAE.
The satellite has been created to monitor environmental purposes and urban management. The satellite is considered to be the most sophisticated one that orbits the planet and has received five technological patents.
Fully constructed in the UAE with groundbreaking technologies, the satellite bears the name of the President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, carrying the vision of this nation’s leadership to the skies and beyond.
Commenting on the special issue, Abdulla M. Alashram, Acting Group CEO of Emirates Post Group stated that KhalifaSat displays the limitless talent of the UAE and the dedication and passion indicated by these young Emiratis is a motivation to the upcoming generations. Given that innovation is one of UAEs core values, at Emirates Post, they are proud to merge with MBRSC to observe this milestone and support their strategy to cheer innovation and technological progress in the UAE.
Yousuf Hamad AlShaibani, Director General of MBRSC, stated circulating a postage stamp containing the image of KhalifaSat, the first satellite developed 100 percent in the UAE by a team of qualified engineers, is a celebration of the national endeavor that made it possible for the UAE to join the ranks of nation that develop satellites.
AlShaibani stated that Emirates Post plays a crucial role in monitoring, recording and underscoring this national accomplishment locally and globally, by issuing postage stamps and souvenir cards, observing this event, which generations would be proud of over the years.
