The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Center, MBRSC, today unveiled the emblem of the Emirates Lunar Mission, ELM, the first Emirati and Arab mission to explore the Moon, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai in September. The Emirates Lunar Mission, fully designed and developed by an Emirati team, also supports the UAE’s efforts to develop the space sector in the region.
The inspiration in the logo of Emirates Lunar Mission
The personal signature of the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum carries the Emirates Lunar Mission logo. Design features have symbolic meaning, including the color scheme evoking the surface of the moon and the image of the moon on the emblem, reflecting the fact that the project is the first foray to the lunar surface of the Arab world. The UAE flag and seven stars reflecting the seven emirates of the UAE are another prominent aspect of the emblem.
With his far-reaching long-term vision, which became the guiding force not only for Dubai’s growth, but also for the country. The late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum sparked off Dubai’s renaissance. His vision was also consistent with that of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. He worked to unify the seven Emirates and to build the UAE side by side with Sheikh Rashid.
A great vision of a wise man
The Emirates Lunar Mission is the result of the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Governor of Dubai, who followed in the footsteps of the new Dubai architect and continued his fruitful path to lift the global status of Dubai.’ Its accomplishments in the space industry represent one of the ways in which Dubai has improved its international leadership,” he added.
The Rashid Lunar Rover will land on a part of the surface of the Moon. The part which no prior lunar exploration mission has investigated or explored. The Emirates Lunar Mission is an ambitious national undertaking that is part of the latest MBRSC 2021-2031 plan. For the next decade, the Center has drawn up a strategy to improve global productivity and forge strategic alliances. Also to launch a new period of exploration in the fields of space, technology and other relevant sectors.
