Recycling and Sustainability at Emirates Global Aluminum
Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) has always shown commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship throughout its operations.
The company recognizes the importance of recycling aluminum.
Because it is a way to reduce its environmental impact and contribute to a circular economy.
Moreover, aluminum can be recycled infinitely without losing its properties.
The recycling process requires 95% less energy compared to producing primary aluminum from bauxite ore, and results in significantly lower emissions.
Increasing Recycling Capacity and Promoting Recycled Aluminum Usage
Emirates Global Aluminum is taking several steps to increase its recycling capacity and promote the use of recycled aluminum:
Acquiring LEICHTMETALL:
EGA’s acquired LEICHTMETALL, the leading German aluminum recycler.
This will provide the company with a strategic platform to grow its recycling operations in Europe.
Building a new recycling plant in the UAE:
EGA is currently constructing 170,000 tons per year at the aluminum recycling plant in Al Taweela.
Which will start production in 2025.
Producing low-carbon aluminum:
EGA is the first company to produce commercial aluminum using solar power.
The company’s CelestiAL™ aluminum is certified by the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) as a low-carbon product.
Collaborating with partners:
EGA is working with partners across the value chain to promote the use of recycled aluminum.
Mentioning that the company is a member of the ASI and the World Aluminum Recycling Congress.
