The United Arab Emirates today announced the biggest global gas discovery of a reservoir of some 80 billion cubic feet of gas, considered the world’s largest find in the last 15 years.
The National Petroleum Company of Abu Dhabi (Adnoc) said that the field is located in the areas of Saih Al Sidirah and Jebel Ali, in the emirates of Abu Dhabi and Dubai, which both are the biggest city in UAE.
With this deposit, the national objective of achieving gas self-sufficiency is reinforced, by promoting large development projects for the next fifty years, said the official WAM news agency.
ADNOC working without stop and drilled more than 10 evaluation wells in an area of five thousand square kilometers.
The reservoir contains high quality organic gas at relatively shallow depths, he added.
The finding is the world’s largest gas discovery in 15 years, said Liam Yates, an analyst at global natural resources consultancy Wood Mackenzie, and it is such a fantastic news to global economic.
