Emirates Airline and Fly Dubai are signing agreements to purchase 777X and 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
Vice President of Marketing and Sales for the Middle East, Africa and Turkey at Boeing, Omar Areqat, confirmed that Dubai’s aviation development plans are boosting the region’s global competitiveness.
Especially with expectations of further future growth in the sector in Dubai, Riyadh and Qatar.
Areqat talking about Boeing products in the MENA region.

In an interview on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow, he said that Boeing products are the preferred choice for customers in the region.
Moreover, he pointed out that Emirates Airline has laid out its future plans with Boeing through the 777X program.
Which is a testament that the aircraft is suitable for the carrier’s operations.
Especially since the aircraft was selected after a careful study by the company.
He added:
“Emirates airline and flydubai conducted thorough studies before signing agreements to purchase 777X and 787 Dreamliner aircraft.
While the selection of Boeing aircraft by Emirates and flydubai during the show is in line with the plans of the two airlines.
Pointing out that Emirates’ signing of a deal to purchase 95 aircraft came after long discussions and negotiations.
In fact, Emirates airline will be among the first carriers to receive Boeing 777X aircraft.
Noting that part of the manufactured aircraft will be delivered after the approvals are completed.
Areqat explained that Boeing is confident in delivering Boeing 777X aircraft in mid-2025 to Emirates and other airlines.
Mentioning that this model is one of the most evaluated and scrutinized aircraft in the world.
Flydubai
Omar Areqat said that flydubai has achieved significant success over the past years.
Which has contributed to supporting Dubai’s plans to become a global air transport hub.
As the diversification between narrow-body and wide-body aircraft will contribute to strengthening the carrier’s growth plans.
He added, “flydubai has succeeded in providing solutions to cover the shortage of aircraft due to delayed deliveries.
Therefore, we expect the impact to be relatively lower in the coming period.”
He explained that supply chains are the biggest challenge facing the aviation industry in the world.
And Boeing is working on measures to overcome these challenges, but we have overcome the most difficult phase of this challenge.
Since the supply chain challenge has already affected Boeing 737 MAX deliveries to its customers.
Dubai Airshow
Areqat said that the measure of success at the Dubai Airshow during the last session was the number of participants and visitors.
Especially since the sector was on the verge of emerging from the effects of the pandemic.
While the aircraft orders signed by airlines in the UAE and the region in the 2023 session are a testament to the return of the aviation sector.
Moreover, the region needs more than 3,000 aircraft over the next 20 years, according to Boeing’s latest forecasts.
He pointed out that the plans in the UAE and the region make the region a real competitor in the aviation sector.
Areqat explained that the Middle East is one of the fastest regions in recovery.
Especially in premium travel, and that competition in the region raises the level of service and increases the efficiency of carrier networks.
He pointed out that the establishment of new airlines in the region will strengthen its position.
In addition, it will raise the level of competition, and contribute to increasing the flow of passengers to the region.
In conclusion, the region has been at a growing level for more than 20 years.
And with the establishment of new carriers, the sector in the region will continue to grow.
