UAE Hands over the presidency of the Economic and Social Council to Bahrain
The UAE has handed over the presidency of the preparatory meetings for the 115th Economic and Social Council to the Kingdom of Bahrain.
This session started today at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Arab League.
A social committee meeting was held to prepare the draft agenda related to the social file for the session.
The UAE delegation was headed by H.E Juma Mohammed Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs at the Ministry of Economy.
It also included:
- H.E Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Malik, Head of the International Organizations Department at the Ministry
- H.E Mohammed Saleh Shalouh, Advisor to the Minister of Economy.

Pioneering Initiatives
In his speech during the opening session, H.E Juma Mohammed Al Kait emphasized the UAE’s unwavering commitment to support all frameworks of joint Arab action in various fields.
Including the social aspect and its associated projects and initiatives.
This commitment stems from the vision and directives of the UAE’s wise leadership.
He stated that during its presidency of the Council’s 114th session, the UAE had worked to support and endorse various Arab efforts.
In order to achieve progress in the social sector, which positively impacts sustainable and comprehensive development.
This includes pioneering initiatives that can bring about tangible transformation and prosperity in the Arab social landscape.
Such as the “Arab Reading Challenge,” which today stands as one of the most important knowledge-based and cultural initiatives.

Roadmap To Shared Goals
Al Kait stressed the importance of continuing joint efforts to implement the various resolutions of the Economic and Social Council 114th session.
As it formed a fundamental pillar and roadmap for achieving our shared goals in the fields of economy and social development.
Al Kait announced the handover of the the current session presidency to the sisterly Kingdom of Bahrain.
Wishing it all success in supporting Arab development efforts and enriching the work of the Arab Economic and Social Council in various fields and sectors.
In order to contribute to the progress and prosperity of our countries and all the Arab peoples.
