The UAE Esports Federation Announces the First “E-Gaming League” (EGL) in March
The UAE Esports Federation has announced the launch of the first edition of the E-Gaming League Championship (EGL) in March.
This league features over 4,000 players from around the world.
Participants will compete across four main categories: sports, fighting, strategy, and shooting games.
A Global Competition in the UAE
Saeed Al Taher, Secretary-General of the Federation, explained that the E-Gaming League is designed for esports teams and companies both locally and internationally.
It differs from the Esports League, launched in July last year, which serves as the official competition for UAE clubs and teams within the country.
Al Taher emphasized that the E-Gaming League aims to create a high-level competitive environment.
Helping UAE players refine their skills and compete against top global talents in both individual and team-based matches.
He noted that esports has become a global phenomenon, attracting millions of fans worldwide.
The EGL model reflects the UAE’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and global excellence.
Introducing the “Phygital” Concept
Al Taher also announced the launch of a new initiative that combines physical sports with esports.
This is through the “Phygital” system. which is a hybrid model that blends physical activity with digital gaming.
This innovative system aims to enhance player interaction.
It also offer a well-rounded sports experience.
Promoting both physical fitness and esports culture in a balanced and inclusive way.
The EGL is part of the UAE’s efforts to position itself as a major player in the global esports industry.
It fosterers inclusivity, innovation, and top-tier competition.
