Dubai Airport (DXB) Secures Top Spot as World’s Busiest Airport
Dubai Airport (DXB) has maintained its position as the world’s busiest airport for scheduled international seat capacity in June.
This is according to the latest data from global aviation data provider OAG.
DXB recorded over 4.93 million scheduled seats for international flights in June 2024.
While it recorded approximately 4.6 million seats in June 2023.
Accordingly, the airport made a growth of around 7.1%.
This brings the total international flights scheduled seat capacity during 2024 first half to approx. 29.5 million seats.
In comparison to 27.2 million seats during the same period last year.
Dubai Airport surpassed London, Amsterdam, and Paris Airports
The growth in seat capacity comes as DXB continues to witness strong growth rates.
The growth is driven by an increase in the number of flights and the opening of new terminals compared to last year’s levels.
OAG noted that DXB remains the world’s busiest international airport in June based on the number of scheduled seats offered by airlines on international flights.
London Heathrow Airport came in second with over 4 million seats.
Amsterdam Schiphol Airport followed with approximately 3.42 million scheduled seats.
While Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport in fourth place with 3.41 million scheduled seats.
The Second Globally
The data showed that DXB continued its strong performance.
By ranking second globally in total seat capacity for both international and domestic flights, after US Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport.
Mentioning that Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport has recorded 5.4 million scheduled seats in June.
Dallas Fort Worth International Airport recorded approximately 4.6 million seats and Tokyo Haneda Airport recorded around 4.4 million seats for international and domestic flights.

DXB recorded 7.9 million passengers in 1 Month
DXB witnessed a significant increase in passenger numbers during the first quarter of the current year, with 23 million passengers, an 8.4% increase compared to the same period last year.
This growth is due to DXB’s attractiveness in key markets.
And also due to its contribution to strengthening Dubai’s position as a global destination for tourism and trade.
January recorded the highest passenger traffic, with 7.9 million passengers.
Highlighting that DXB is connected to 260 destinations in 104 countries through 90 airlines.
As per expectations, the airport will handle around 91.4 million passengers by the end of the current year and 100 million passengers by 2027.
