Dubai adds one more feather to its cap, as the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) finally launches the Tech Taxi platform. With this initiative, taxis on Dubai roads will be equipped with free Wi-fi and other digital services. This Tech Taxi initiative will not only help the drivers, but will also come handy for riders who can track the path of the journey and share the map with his/her relatives or associates for sake of personal safety.
Speaking on the launch of the initiative, Khaled Al Awadi, director of transportation systems at the RTA’s Public Transport Agency shared with the media, that “once connected, the rider can log on to (www.taxiconnect.ae) to access an array of digital services via options enabling communication with the driver using instant interpretation of the passenger’s language to the driver’s selected language displayed on the meter screen.”
Best of all, Tech Taxi service will enable passengers to communicate with taxi driver in any language. Owing to the fact that Dubai is home to people of varied nationalities, this is a huge relief for taxi drivers and riders itself. Awadi also shared that the initiative was a perfect way to highlight RTA’s efforts to rank Dubai the smartest city worldwide making digitisation of taxi services in Dubai a reality.
