Dubai International Airport maintained its global lead as the world’s largest international departure airport in August 2023.
According to the monthly report by OAG International, a global provider of air travel data and analysis.
Total number of scheduled seats on international flights through DXB exceeded 4.96 million seats in August.
In August 2022 total scheduled seats number reached 4.09 million.
Accordingly, growth rate of DXB reached 21.2%.
DXB airport continues to record strong growth rates, with an increase in the number of flights and the opening of new terminals compared to last year.
Dubai International Airport outpaced London Heathrow Airport by more than 830,000 scheduled seats on international flights.
So Heathrow Airport ranked as the second with about 4.1 million seats.
Amsterdam Airport took the third position with about 3.45 million seats.
While Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport ranked fourth with 3.43 million seats.
Dubai International Airport continued its strong performance.
As it is ranked as the second globally in terms of total seat capacity on both international and domestic flights.
After Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport in the United States, which recorded 5.5 million scheduled seats in August 2023.
Dubai International Airport, the world’s largest aviation hub, has captured eight of the top 10 busiest air routes in the Middle East in terms of seat capacity on scheduled international flights in July 2023, according to data released by OAG International, a global provider of airport and airline data.
Moreover, the data showed that two of these routes are concentrated between Dubai and the Saudi market, namely Dubai-Riyadh.
Which came in fifth place globally and second in the region in terms of seat capacity on scheduled international flights in July 2023.
Followed by the Dubai-Jeddah route, which came in fourth place in the region with about 262,600 seats.
The strong performance of Dubai International Airport is due to many factors such as:
-DXB strategic location as a hub for air travel between Europe, Asia, and Africa.
-Dubai Int’ Airport Strong connectivity to the Saudi market.
Also, DXB airport is a home to a number of major airlines, including Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways.
Moreover, Emirates Airlines and Etihad Airways offer a wide range of destinations to passengers from all over the world.
Actually, the strong performance of Dubai International Airport is a positive sign for the aviation industry in the Middle East.
