Dr. Sultan Al Jaber Visit to Greece Focuses on Energy, Climate Action, and Investment
His Excellency Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and COP28 President, led a delegation of government and private sector representatives on a work visit to Greece.
The visit aimed to strengthen the strategic ties between the two friendly countries.
Which have witnessed remarkable growth in all vital areas.
Meeting With the Greek Prime Minister
Dr. Al Jaber conveyed the greetings of the UAE leadership to the Greek Prime Minister.
Moreover, he confirmed the UAE keenness to enhance strategic relations with Greece.
The Greek side congratulated the UAE government and people on their successful hosting and presidency of COP28.
They praised the “UAE Agreement” which achieved a historic consensus among the participating countries.
And set ambitious goals to support climate action and achieve a logical, practical, and just transition in the energy sector.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation within the framework of the comprehensive strategic partnership signed during the Greek Prime Minister’s visit to the UAE in November 2020.
Promising Investment Opportunities
They also reviewed the latest developments of the €4 billion (US$4.2 billion) joint investment fund, announced in May 2022.
The fund’s joint steering committee convened during the visit to discuss promising investment opportunities.
Aiming to build more strategic partnerships and achieve sustainable long-term returns.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in:
Digital and government services, artificial intelligence, and exploring available opportunities.
The visit witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding.
Which was between Mubadala Investment Company and the Hellenic Development Bank for Investments.
With the aim to expand their existing partnership in the field of investment with a value of €200 million.

Dr. Al Jaber commended Greece’s Efforts in Climate Action and its Support for the UAE in Hosting COP28.
An agreement was also signed to implement the “Green Islands” initiative projects in Greece between Masdar and the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy.
It is worth noting that the non-oil trade volume between the two countries reached about AED 1.97 billion in 2022.
(exceeding pre-COVID-19 levels by more than 60%).
