ADIPEC 2024 Kicks off in Abu Dhabi
During in his opening speech at ADIPEC 2024, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Group CEO of ADNOC, emphasized that the UAE is focusing on practical advancements to keep pace with the future, under the guidance of its visionary leadership.
Moreover, he highlighted the importance of integrating technology, energy, and investment sectors.
As this integration can address major global trends, such as:
- Rise of the Global South
- Energy transformations
- The rapid growth of artificial intelligence
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber: “Renewable Energy sources Usage Will Increase.”
Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber noted that the expected population growth in the Global South by 2050 will necessitate significant transformations in energy systems.
He explained that the use of renewable energy sources like wind and solar power will increase.
While the demand on oil as a primary fuel in many vital industries will persist.
He also emphasized that electricity demand will double with increasing urbanization worldwide, especially as AI usage grows.
Talking about artificial intelligence, Al Jaber confirmed that the technology contributes to improving efficiency and productivity, the key drivers of sustainable growth.
He stressed the need to expand data centers to meet the growing demand on energy, driven by AI applications.
Those AI centers are expected to require 150 gigawatts of energy by 2030.

“AI for Energy Future”
Al Jaber has also announced a new initiative entitled “AI for Energy Future”.
This initiative is developed in partnership with G42 and Microsoft.
“AI for Energy Future” imitative aims at improving operational processes.
By using “AI agent” systems to analyze large data sets and make autonomous decisions.
These systems will help improve the accuracy of production forecasts by up to 90%, enhancing efficiency and reducing emissions.
Finally, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber called industry leaders to unite their efforts.
In order to address future challenges and opportunities, referring to Abu Dhabi ENACT Council.
This council discussed the best ways to leverage AI capabilities to develop renewable energy and enhance energy efficiency.
